Make me banana pancakes

I love Jack Johnson's song, Banana Pancakes. I just love the mellowness of the rhythm and the lyrics. The song is about staying home and cuddling with your loved one. It’s raining outside, it’s a perfect time to stay home

Can’t you see that it’s just raining? Ain’t no need to go outside…

Can I interest you in staying home today and just being lazy?

This song is meant to keep you from doing what you’re supposed to like waking up too early.
Maybe we can sleep in. I’ll make you banana pancakes.
Pretend like it’s the weekend now. And we can pretend it all the time.

We don’t need to go outside or answer the phone, we are staying home and indulging in staying in our PJ’s and eating banana pancakes. We don’t need anything more than that.

We got everything we need right here and everything we need is enough.
When the whole world fits inside of your arms, don't really need to pay attention to the alarm.

This sums up how I feel every morning when my alarm goes off at 5 a.m. – even if it’s not raining outside. I’d like to pretend that it’s always the weekend. As Jacob calls it, “stay-home-day.” Aside from the fact that I love banana pancakes (topped with strawberry jam and whipped cream), this song really says a lot of the things I like.

Unfortunately, of course, if we don't want to be homeless and hungry, I cannot stay home everyday. My alternative is just listening to this song and pretending that I have that option. Somehow, it helps muffle that little whinny voice inside my head, pleading to not go to work and do nothing all day.

It was raining heavily one morning on our way to work. Jacob and I sang Banana Pancakes a couple of times in the car driving to work. There was no need to go outside that morning. But we managed. The song got us through, thanks to Jack.
